The One Thing They All Have In Common

In the early church men and women migrated to deserted places in these early efforts to remove the distractions that stood between themselves and God. In desolation and with a contrite heart they sought the meaning of life. This is characteristic of all eremitic Christians; they needed to know the meaning of their lives which had been lost in the cities. ***And though the answers differed, and may have even been contradictory one to another, yet they all had one thing in common, namely, that all authentic answers come from God and are expressions and extensions of God's will as manifest in the Word, and that when one receives and obeys this word, one finds peace, quies.
