Solitude And Love

The only valid reason to live in solitude is the love of God. From this experience comes a deeper appreciation for the actual benefits of physical separation. exterior silence, and mental recollection. In solitude we are able to discern and lay aside the distractions that threaten to divert us from what it takes to genuinely love all others. And yet people act and speak all the time as if solitude were of no importance in relating to God.

It is interesting that people will turn to any created thing in order try to fill the void that only solitude can. Starvation, grief, and poverty; these are the doors through which one finds the way into solitude that glorifies God. In fully dying to our false selves we find the seed of being loved by God at our core. And it is in this loneliness that our daily labour finds repose and can begin to flourish - beyond anything that we are able to orchestrate - into genuine love for all other beings.
