The only thing that can properly be called God's will in the Christian life is that which is required of people to be united with one another in love. It is the basic tenant of natural law. In other words, natural law grants to every person the same nature, needs, rights, and destiny as we do to ourselves. And there is no way for us to treat others as we want to have our true selves treated if we cannot have compassion for them. To not exercise compassion toward others is to be outside of God's will. And to claim to be following God's will without being compassionate toward all people is to live a farce. Christian discipleship is not a doctrine or a theology or a set of beliefs. It is Christ living in us and uniting us all to God in love. There is only one flight from the world that is valid for a Christian which is the flight from disunity. The world is largely a disunited city of people who live for themselves...people who fight for the limited resources and power that it, as a principality, refuses to share with others. Anything that is so directed and which holds you back from love must be let go.
