Awakening to one's alienation. Opting for one's integration. Both are clear signs of maturity. This is a transcultural process. It involves no mere social adjustment. Open to experiencing one's own joys and one's own sufferings as your own without needing to reinterpret or categorize them. Not guided by the will but by integrated reasoning involving freedom, spontaneity, and love. A defining emptiness. A poverty that is mirrored by the Rhenish mystics. A warmth that glows in the Lutheran Pietists. And by the inner eyes of Sufis and Taoist masters and Zen Buddhists. Full integration. The void. Poverty. Nonaction. Docility to the Holy Wind. The pencil with which God writes.
