Holiness

God was put to death because God did not measure up to people's expectations of God's holiness. God was not holy enough. God was not holy in the right manner. God was not holy in the ways that they wanted God to be holy. And in this death God's holiness was manifest in a way that very apparently contradicted itself.. It denied and rejected all human notions of holiness; it became the epitome of folly...power manifest in weakness. God's holiness became unholy in humanity's eyes. And all of this is why if we want to reverence God's holiness that we have to start by renouncing our own wisdom...our own ways. We have to live in an emptiness that is truly empty and not just apparently empty or theoretically empty, but empty in reality. And it leaves off all the ways that people can follow or understand by any effort of your own.

This is holiness.
