Personal integrity, inner peace, authenticity, identity, depth, joy, the capacity to love and be loved, the ability to be comfortable and at rest in the natural world, the desire to give thanks. These are some of the most prominent features on the spiritual geography of Christian contemplative people. This is what the simple, direct, contemplative experience of God historically produces when the self is unmasked and lain aside. If the world fails to find these in the church then it is due to the fact that the church continues focusing on developing its theology and liturgy and clerical and business models, all of which are irrelevant aping of the world and its diversions where over-organized and artificial people are increasing removed from the sphere of direct, immediate interaction with God and are bought indoors to the office, the classroom, and the assembly line...noise, shouting, violence, clutter, naked ambition, ideas, control, theory. The only task of contemplative Christianity is to be fully human as we were created by God to be.
