Enculturation

The easy and habitual activities and values of the societies to which we are born, in which we are raised, and that we promote in adult life. In these we trust.

But this permissive drifting comes at a price. Because there are transcendent elemental aspects of the world and of human life which cannot be found by anyone unless they are worked at in order to be discovered.

These only come as a result of a psychological break. A sacrifice involving walking away from certain easy social adjustments and of conventional roles.
