Difficult And Lifelong

When it comes to genuine spiritual maturity it is a perilous though necessary step to move from a stage in which you love and worship God as an object to experiencing God as something which cannot easily be described.

The emphasis on rationalizing and logic has historically perverted the reality of God. The embracing of the whole person is necessary when it comes to reaching down into the mysterious, honest, and sensate reality of God's presence and activity in and throughout the world. Without this integration faith can never lead to anything serious. This holistic appeal is as old as it is new. There is no change in the need for the ancient disciplines when it comes to honing the personal tools necessary for this breakthrough. But the insights of modern psychology clearly do give clean insight not simply into one's own motivations and barriers when it comes to actually becoming integrated, but also expose the lack of freedom to develop in these areas that are imposed both by oneself as well as to that of legalistic authorities that are driven by: egotism, vanity, tradition, willfulness, aggression, jealously, greed, and appetite.

And anyone who has genuinely encountered God knows as a fact that in embarking on this path it is going to be by the very nature of the call itself a difficult and lifelong undertaking.
