A Sign Of Hope

Contemplative life is always a sign of genuine hope in the face of social false hope. The promises that societies hold forth in their programs and technologies may be truly inspiring, but throughout history the fact remains that for most people who have lived these promises have remained largely illusory and if we are honest will always continue to be so. Even so, contemplative living is a clear demonstration that unmistakably shows that anyone can be perfectly satisfied with themselves without trying to achieve worldly success or achievement, by simply laying aside their ambition. By simplicity, by poverty, by social detachment, by solitude, by directly availing oneself to God, they bear witness to the fact that great happiness does not depend in any measure on the promises proposed by the world.
