As long as we are conscious of any sense of separation, of distance, of difference between ourselves and I AM, then the direct experience of God is not yet. As long as there is an I, then we have not yet left Egypt, living by our own wits, our own achievements, our own desires. Completely stripped of our masks, we own nothing...not even contemplation. The I seeks to amass experiences, reflect on them, reflect on itself, and justifies itself through the superficial, and the empirical, and the deductive.
